Kathmandu is the wettest place in our list with 33.4 mm of heavy rain, while Karachi and Riyadh both climb to 36°C (97°F) under mostly sunny skies.

Heavy rain in Kathmandu and a wet Phoenix

Kathmandu has the heaviest rain of the day. With 33.4 mm expected and a high of only 21°C (70°F), it will feel cool, grey and soaked. Further east, Kolkata also sees heavy rain, around 10.2 mm.

Across the Pacific side of North America, Phoenix is a surprise. It is expected to get 16.2 mm of heavy rain, a lot for a desert city, with a high of 22°C (72°F). Houston also sees heavy rain with 13.0 mm. Seattle is wet and cold, with 9.6 mm and a high of just 9°C (48°F).

Gulf and South Asia heat

The hottest weather sits around the Arabian Gulf and Pakistan’s coast. Karachi and Riyadh both reach 36°C, while Dubai and Doha follow at 35°C (95°F). Skies are mostly sunny and winds are light, so there is little to break the heat. Jeddah is a little different, with light showers and a warm, humid night at 27°C (81°F).

Elsewhere in South Asia the pattern is mixed. Lahore and Islamabad are pleasant at 27°C and 26°C. Delhi and Mumbai see rain, Dhaka gets about 6.1 mm, and Chennai is hot at 33°C (91°F) but mostly dry.

Cold, grey weather across Europe

Europe is cool and often murky. Moscow has the coldest night among the major cities, falling to 2°C (36°F), and only reaches 10°C (50°F) by day. Warsaw and Berlin top out at 9°C (48°F). Fog hangs over London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Berlin and Interlaken, which means slow starts to the day for drivers and commuters.

Reykjavík is the stormiest in the north. It has rain of 4.5 mm and winds up to 34 km/h. Athens is also wet, with 7.1 mm of rain, while Madrid and Lisbon stay mild at 22°C and 26°C.

East Asia, the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere

Osaka has heavy rain of about 11.8 mm, while Tokyo sees steadier rain and Beijing stays dry and sunny, with a big swing between a chilly 4°C (39°F) night and a 20°C (68°F) afternoon. Across Southeast Asia, rain is widespread in Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta and Manila.

In South America, Rio de Janeiro sees heavy rain of 17.4 mm and Buenos Aires 13.8 mm. Lagos in Nigeria has heavy rain of 11.4 mm.

In the Southern Hemisphere, Melbourne has heavy rain of 15.1 mm. Auckland has the strongest winds in our list at 46 km/h, and Sydney is close behind at 43 km/h with rain.

What it means for travellers and people outdoors

Heat in the Gulf: keep outdoor activity for early morning or evening, drink water often and take shade in the afternoon.

Heavy rain: in Kathmandu, Phoenix, Houston, Rio de Janeiro and Melbourne, allow extra journey time, as roads can be slow and wet. Be careful near streams and low-lying roads.

Fog in Europe: expect slower travel on roads and possible delays at the start of the day.

Wind: in Auckland and Sydney, secure loose items and expect a bumpy feel near the coast.

Cold nights: from Moscow to Warsaw, wrap up in the evening, as temperatures drop close to freezing.

The numbers

City

High

Low

Rain

Sky

Karachi, Pakistan

36°C

24°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

36°C

24°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

35°C

24°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Doha, Qatar

35°C

26°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Moscow, Russia

10°C

2°C

0.0 mm

cloudy

Warsaw, Poland

9°C

3°C

0.4 mm

light showers

Reykjavík, Iceland

6°C

3°C

4.5 mm

rain

Beijing, China

20°C

4°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Kathmandu, Nepal

21°C

15°C

33.4 mm

heavy rain

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

26°C

21°C

17.4 mm

heavy rain

Phoenix, United States

22°C

16°C

16.2 mm

heavy rain

Melbourne, Australia

26°C

17°C

15.1 mm

heavy rain

Forecast retrieved 30 October 2026, 05:31 UTC for 84 major cities.
