Temperatures are fairly typical for early November, with daytime highs of 9°C to 12°C.

Fog in Scotland and showers in the east today

Glasgow and Inverness start under fog, with light winds that let it hang around. Glasgow is the coldest spot in the data, dropping to 3°C overnight. Edinburgh has a few light showers, while Aberdeen stays cloudy but dry and mild, with a low of 9°C.

Along the east coast, Norwich and Newcastle both see light showers. Amounts are small, below 1 mm, so this is more a nuisance than a washout.

Sunshine in the south, Wales and Northern Ireland

London, Southampton, Bristol and Plymouth are all mostly sunny, with highs of 11°C to 12°C. It is a bright start to the week for the south of England, though a breeze of 14 to 17 mph keeps it feeling fresher.

Wales is also mostly sunny in Cardiff and Aberystwyth, but Cardiff has the strongest wind of the day at 21 mph. Belfast enjoys sunshine too, with a high of 11°C and a cool 5°C overnight.

Midlands and northern England

Birmingham is mostly sunny and a little cooler, with a high of 10°C. Further north, Manchester and Leeds stay cloudy but dry, with light winds around 11 to 12 mph.

UK weather for the next few days

Wednesday 4 November brings more cloud for most of England and Wales, which means the sunny spells fade. Leeds sees rain, though only 1.6 mm, and Belfast and Norwich stay mostly sunny. Glasgow and Inverness remain foggy.

On Thursday 5 November, showers become more widespread in the north and west. Belfast turns wet, Plymouth sees light showers, and Aberdeen, Newcastle and Leeds also get some light rain. Showers could also break out nearby in Southampton. Inverness stays foggy and cold, with a high of only 7°C.

By Friday 6 November, winds ease almost everywhere. The best of the rain moves to the far south west, where Plymouth sees rain and heavier falls are possible nearby. Light showers affect Glasgow, Aberdeen and Belfast. Manchester ends the week mostly sunny.

What it means for you

If you are driving in Scotland today, allow extra time where fog is slow to clear, and use dipped headlights.

Carry a light waterproof in the east and north-east, where showers are brief but likely.

The south and west are good for outdoor plans today, but Wednesday is duller, so make the most of it.

Wrap up warmer in Glasgow and Inverness, where nights are close to freezing in the coldest spots.

Later in the week, check the forecast before travelling in the south west and Northern Ireland, as rain arrives there.

Today city by city

City

Region

High

Low

Rain

Wind

Sky

London

South East England

12°C

8°C

0.1 mm

14 mph

mostly sunny

Southampton

South England

12°C

7°C

0.0 mm

17 mph

mostly sunny

Bristol

South West England

11°C

6°C

0.0 mm

16 mph

mostly sunny

Plymouth

South West England

11°C

7°C

0.0 mm

17 mph

mostly sunny

Birmingham

Midlands

10°C

6°C

0.1 mm

13 mph

mostly sunny

Norwich

East of England

12°C

9°C

0.8 mm

14 mph

light showers

Manchester

North West England

11°C

8°C

0.0 mm

12 mph

cloudy

Leeds

Yorkshire

10°C

8°C

0.0 mm

11 mph

cloudy

Newcastle

North East England

10°C

9°C

0.7 mm

14 mph

light showers

Cardiff

Wales

11°C

7°C

0.0 mm

21 mph

mostly sunny

Aberystwyth

Wales

11°C

8°C

0.0 mm

16 mph

mostly sunny

Glasgow

Scotland

10°C

3°C

0.0 mm

6 mph

fog

Edinburgh

Scotland

10°C

6°C

0.2 mm

10 mph

light showers

Aberdeen

Scotland

11°C

9°C

0.0 mm

11 mph

cloudy

Inverness

Scotland

9°C

6°C

0.0 mm

7 mph

fog

Belfast

Northern Ireland

11°C

5°C

0.0 mm

9 mph

mostly sunny

Forecast retrieved 3 November 2026, 06:31 UTC for 16 cities across United Kingdom, each checked with four points about 30 km around it.
