The heaviest rain is in Istanbul, with 19.4 mm and winds up to 44 km/h, and Miami has the strongest winds at 55 km/h.

The big contrast: 37°C heat against a 1°C chill

The forecast window runs from 05:30 UTC on Tuesday 27 October 2026. Across southern Asia and the Gulf, summer has not let go. Karachi, Mumbai and Jeddah all reach 37°C under mostly sunny skies. Meanwhile in East Asia, clear skies let the night get cold, so Seoul drops to 1°C before warming to 13°C in the afternoon. That is a gap of 36 degrees between the two extremes.

South Asia and the Middle East: heat stays put

Dhaka is cloudy but very warm, with 36°C by day and only 28°C at night, so there is little relief after dark. Doha reaches 36°C and Dubai 35°C, with Dubai seeing winds up to 28 km/h. Riyadh also reaches 35°C. Further north the air is far gentler: Tehran peaks at 22°C and Cairo at 30°C.

Not everywhere in South Asia is hot and dry. Colombo has heavy rain with 16.9 mm and winds up to 32 km/h, and Kolkata sees rain with 5.2 mm. Lahore and Islamabad stay dry and mostly sunny at 28°C and 26°C.

Europe: fog in the east, rain in the west and south

Eastern Europe is the cold side of the continent. Vienna and Warsaw start with fog and only reach 12°C, with lows of 2°C. Moscow is cloudy with a high of 9°C. Reykjavík is colder still at 5°C, with rain.

Istanbul takes the worst of the weather, with heavy rain of 19.4 mm and winds up to 44 km/h. Athens has 8.8 mm of rain, and Oslo has 7.2 mm. Helsinki stays dry but cloudy, with winds up to 41 km/h. London, Paris, Amsterdam and Manchester all see rain, but totals are modest. Madrid and Rome stay dry and mostly sunny, at 22°C and 20°C.

North America: heavy rain in Miami and Seattle

Miami combines heavy rain of 16.6 mm with the day’s strongest winds, up to 55 km/h, although it stays warm at 27°C. On the opposite coast, Seattle has heavy rain of 10.5 mm and a high of 13°C. Vancouver is also wet with 9.8 mm. Much of the east and centre is dry: New York reaches 15°C, and Denver warms to 18°C after a 2°C start.

Tropics and the rest of the world

The tropics are in their usual rainy mood. Kuala Lumpur has heavy rain of 15.5 mm, Lagos 14.2 mm and Jakarta 10.3 mm. Hong Kong is rainy with winds up to 41 km/h. In the southern hemisphere, Melbourne and Brisbane see rain, while Sydney and Perth stay mostly sunny.

What it means for travellers and people outdoors

In Karachi, Mumbai, Jeddah, Doha and Dhaka, plan outdoor activity for the cooler parts of the day, drink plenty of water and take breaks in shade.

In Seoul, Vienna, Warsaw and Moscow, expect a cold start, so dress in layers. Fog in Vienna and Warsaw may slow morning travel.

In Istanbul and Miami, allow extra time for journeys, as heavy rain and strong winds can make travel slower.

In Seattle and Colombo, carry waterproofs and expect wet surfaces.

The numbers

City

High

Low

Rain

Sky

Karachi, Pakistan

37°C

24°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Mumbai, India

37°C

24°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

37°C

28°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Dhaka, Bangladesh

36°C

28°C

0.0 mm

cloudy

Seoul, South Korea

13°C

1°C

0.0 mm

mostly sunny

Vienna, Austria

12°C

2°C

0.0 mm

fog

Warsaw, Poland

12°C

2°C

0.0 mm

fog

Moscow, Russia

9°C

2°C

0.0 mm

cloudy

Istanbul, Turkey

14°C

12°C

19.4 mm

heavy rain

Colombo, Sri Lanka

28°C

25°C

16.9 mm

heavy rain

Miami, United States

27°C

23°C

16.6 mm

heavy rain

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

31°C

24°C

15.5 mm

heavy rain

Forecast retrieved 27 October 2026, 05:31 UTC for 84 major cities.
